Derick contributed hugely to the successful promotion of women's and girls' cricket in Middlesex as the sport became a mainstream option in the 1990's. That the county is now in the top tier of women's cricket is a fitting tribute to the groundwork done over the past 15-20 years, of which Derick was one of the principal architects: a tremendous contribution.
